WeatherGard Double-Slider Maintenance Guide

The chief motivation for WeatherGard’s commitment to producing stronger, heavier, commercial grade residential replacement windows is a desire to offer a product that lasts like a window should. There’s a sharp contrast between this approach, and that of our competitors, who sell temporary, disposable replacements. Our window isn’t meant to be replaced, it’s designed to be maintained. Here’s how:

Removing the Sashes

  1. Unlock the locking mechanism on the sash. Slide sash to its fully opened position.
  2. Grasp sash on either side and lift it into the head of the window until bottom of sash clears the sill.
  3. Tilt bottom of sash out and remove the sash from the frame. Place sash on a soft padded surface and clean exterior glass surface. Beware that large window sashes can be very heavy.
  4. Replace sash into frame by repeating steps 1-4 in reverse order.

Cleaning Tips

For detailed information about removal techniques for specific stains, see below.

Common Stain-Removal Techniques

Notice: Do not use cleaners containing aggressive organic solvents as these can degrade the finish. Avoid chlorine bleach, liquid grease remover, nail polish remover, furniture polish and cleaners, and other strong soaps and detergents containing organic solvents.

A variety of widely available household cleaning chemicals are effective in cleaning problem stains on vinyl windows. In most cases, Fantastik®, Murphy’s Oil Soap®, Windex®, Lestoil®, or a simple mixture of 30% vinegar and 70% water will do the job.
